Mexico,
in Tarahumara country

Tarahumara race
The film

Mexico is above all a perpetual coming and going between the past and the present, the greatness of the Maya and Aztec civilisations, the gigantic size of Mexico, the exuberance of a folklore, the enormous riches of an extreme nature. From this comes a mass of images which Françoise and Luc Giard have filmed over eight months.
The authors have also oriented their research towards lesser-known aspects of this country and show you the region of Chihuahua: this is where we find the desert horse breeders, rodeo enthusiasts, and the Mennonites, extremists of the Bible. The most enriching experience of this report is the meeting with the Tarahumaras Indians, light-footed men capable of running for more than 48 hours non-stop! Françoise and Luc Giard, with their two-year-old daughter, shared their daily life for five months at an altitude of 2,500 metres.
